How to Get Followed on Twitter

Getting followed on Twitter is much easier than you might think. You don’t just have to post and hope that people are seeing your tweets. You can promote just about anything on Twitter whether it’s your business or just keeping people updated on what you’re doing.

Step 1: Create a Twitter account. Of course this is the first step. You’ve got to have an account to get followed right? Twitter is really easy to set up and doesn’t ask for a huge amount of information. Plus you can set lots of fun backgrounds once you have created your account. A good looking page will do wonders to gain followers and will attract people to your page. Keep in mind a creative, but descriptive, username so that people understand what you’re doing through your Tweets.

Step 2: Tweet Tweet Tweet! Seriously though, tons and tons of tweets are what you need. You need stuff for people to read, You don’t have to go overboard but ten or so will do just fine. Tweets are very short so keep them very interesting. The more interesting your tweets the bigger following you’ll get.

Step 3: Follow other people. It’s really important to be proactive when you want followers on Twitter. If you follow other people they are more likely to follow you! I started an account followed just 82 people and have 55 followers. Not everyone will be interested in returning the following, but most businesses are trying to build a following and will return the favor.

Just a note when following people, look for other people who seem to have the same interests as you. If you’re promoting a band add other bands. If you have a diet your promoting add people whose interests reflect on nutrition. A following can help direct people who are looking for certain products. If they see you on a similar companies following they can look you up to see if you offer a better deal.

Don’t be discouraged if you don’t have a huge following immediately. It takes some time to build up interest on your Twitter page. Continue Tweeting and adding people. When someone adds you look through their followers and add the ones you think might be interested in following you.

Twitter can be a great marketing tool if you use it correctly. Patience and creative Tweets play a huge role in gaining a following. So get out there and Tweet!
